A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official experienced a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a first responder, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “6-7” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to begin the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: joyful, diverse, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
