Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I sense the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
