Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
