Emma Raducanu ends her season and plans to retain trainer into the 2026 season.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events of the year because of a medical condition she has been battling for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate before starting her preparations for 2026.

These plans are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering in 2026.

Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the final set against Zhu due to back discomfort that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally for the first time in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

She held three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 matches in the current season and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
