Previous BBC Advisers Participate in Members of Parliament's Grilling Following Claims of Partiality in Unauthorized Memorandum

We start with queries from Conservative MP the committee chair, that chairs the panel.

She initiates by offering context to the unauthorized memorandum prepared by Michael Prescott and released in a daily publication.

"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting toward one side or the other, My only wish is for it straight, fair and fair," he says.

In response to a query whether he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, Prescott replies: "Absolutely not. To be clear, tons of stuff the BBC produces is exceptional - both documentary and entertainment programming."

But he adds: "There remains real work that requires attention at the BBC."

A further former external BBC adviser examined by the committee, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the BBC very seriously and that it has a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" across dynamic and complex subjects.

"Did the BBC ready to engage in a thorough discussion and argument and act accordingly?" she questions. "From my perspective, yes they were."
