Red Bull Announces Major 2026 Driver Roster: Hadjar Promoted, 18-Year-Old Arvid Lindblad Earns Formula 1 Seat.

The Red Bull team has confirmed a new line-up for the 2026 F1 campaign, promoting Frenchman Isack Hadjar to its main squad and awarding British teenager Arvid Lindblad his first F1 drive.

The young driver, who comes from a mixed Swedish-Indian background, is set to become the partner of New Zealander Liam Lawson at the junior outfit Racing Bulls.

This driver musical chairs sees Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda losing his seat post a half-decade in F1.

Who is Arvid Lindblad?

Lindblad has been tagged as a potential future star by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old.

Discussing the company's young driver programme, a senior Red Bull figure noted last year that Lindblad "appears very talented", highlighting his "pure speed".

Red Bull has had a plan since last year to prepare Lindblad for his potential Grand Prix bow in 2026, including runs in Grand Prix practice at the British and Mexican races.

Lindblad stated it was a "dream come true", adding: "2026 will be a huge step, and I know there's a lot to learn, but I'm prepared to collaborate with the team and meet the challenge. I can't wait to get started."

He has won two races in F2 this year and is sixth in the championship heading into the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

The Frenchman's Chance

Hadjar's F1 career began on a low note when he crashed during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, from that point, he has emerged as one of the stand-out newcomers this season.

His performances featured an outstanding podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies 10th in the championship.

The team principal commented: "Isack has displayed impressive growth and demonstrated to be a quick learner. Most importantly, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can succeed next to Max."

Hadjar described it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "prepared".

Lawson Retains His Seat

For the seat at the junior team, Red Bull have opted for Lawson over Tsunoda.

The New Zealander began the season with the senior squad but was moved back early in the year. He has found his form at Racing Bulls with notable results, persuading Red Bull he merits another season.

The Japanese driver, in contrast, has been ejected after a disappointing season. His highest finish is a sixth place, and he has accumulated a small fraction of the team's constructors' championship.

The driver market moves confirm that there is also no place on the Red Bull academy for Irish driver Alex Dunne, who will continue in F2 next season.
