Shoah Survivors Demand Nigel Farage to Say Sorry Over Reported Anti-Jewish Remarks.

A coalition of Shoah survivors has insisted that Nigel Farage admit the facts and issue an apology for alleged anti-Jewish taunts he is said to have made toward Jewish schoolmates during his time at school.

The Reform UK leader has said he never racially abused anyone with malicious intent, suggesting it may have been mere "childish teasing".

"As Holocaust survivors, we comprehend the profound danger of hateful words – because we have experienced firsthand where such words ultimately lead," stated the survivors in a open letter.

"Let us be clear: lauding Hitler, jeering at gas chambers, or shouting racist insults is not simple joking. Not among children. Not under any circumstances."

A Direct Question

The correspondence asks straightforward questions to the political figure: "Are the claims accurate that you stated ‘Hitler was right’ and ‘gas them,’ accompanied by mimicking gas chambers? Did you subject your peers to antisemitic abuse?"

The Signatories

The group of eleven survivors includes individuals with devastating personal stories from the Holocaust.

• Hedi Argent, who was bereaved of 27 members of her family.
• Simon Winston, who was imprisoned in a ghetto before breaking out in 1942 and spending the rest of the war concealed.
• Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, who was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau and later moved to Bergen-Belsen, where she was rescued.

The remaining survivors include Janine Webber, Edith Jayne, Helen Aronson, Ruth Barnett, John Fieldsend, Susan Pollack, Hanneke Dye and Agnes Kaposi.

Increasing Allegations

This public letter is a response to the dismissal of related accounts by more than two dozen former pupils and teachers as "made-up twaddle" by a deputy leader.

Following the publication, additional former pupils have come forward. 28 people connected to the school now state they observed bigoted conduct by him.

One notable allegation comes from Peter Ettedgui, a Jewish-born Bafta and Emmy-winning director, who said that a teenage Farage would sidle up to him and say the phrases "Hitler was correct" and "send them to the gas chambers", at times adding a prolonged hissing sound to mimic the sound of gas chambers.

Additional Claims

Additional alumni from ethnic minorities have likewise spoken publicly with allegations of targeted insults.

• Cyrus Oshidar said he was branded a "racial slur" and has labelled as rubbish the claim that such actions were without intent.
• Another individual with Asian roots portrayed him as an "open racist" who would use the phrase "Enoch Powell had a point" as a form of "ethnic harassment".

The Survivors' Final Appeal

The final appeal puts forth an ultimate question to Farage: "Should you continue to deny saying those words, is your position that 20 former classmates and teachers are not telling the truth? Should the allegations be true, now is the time to admit your error and make amends."

"People who hope to lead our country should never sow discord by ethnicity or faith. Antisemitic hatred must never become acceptable. This moment is about ethical duty. The choice is your own, Mr Farage."
