Six Suspects Apprehended Following €12M Heist on Gold Processing Laboratory in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators equipped with military-grade weapons used explosive devices to force entry into a precious metals processing plant located in the city of Lyon, slightly injuring five staff members during described as the newest significant daytime heist to occur in the country.

The audacious robbery occurred on Thursday late morning, with police forces rapidly detaining the suspected perpetrators and retrieving the loot assessed at around 12 million euros (10.5 million pounds), as stated by authorities.

Five employees of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt from the blast, and three employees required hospital checks for examination, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, believed to be experienced criminals, were arrested a brief time later in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, France, authorities revealed.

A female accomplice involved in the heist was taken into custody as well, officers confirmed.

“Six individuals who utilized explosives in a raid against a precious metals company in Lyon were arrested at the scene,” the French interior minister announced via X, lauding police for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The robbery occurred as French police on Thursday detained five further people, among them a key figure, in connection with the recent audacious Louvre museum robbery.

Dozens of investigators have been pursuing four robbers who utilized a lorry featuring an elevating platform and cutting tools to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the museum on the nineteenth of October, fleeing with ornaments assessed at around €88M.

In another notable incident, robbers the previous month broke into the Parisian museum of natural history, taking gold specimens estimated at exceeding $1M. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was arrested earlier this month in the city of Barcelona in regarding the theft, according to legal authorities.
