The newcomer His maiden beginning in an England shirt. Somewhat sloppy on the ball though his dangerous deliveries caused problems. A handy game manager for the coach to call upon versus teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a poorly timed challenge. 6/10

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free kicks were dangerous. Had license to move down the left flank yet found himself in an offside position as the pass came in shooting positions. Given a well-earned break after an hour. Six

Jude Bellingham Operated in an advanced role on the right and contributed with defensive duties. Displayed glimpses of brilliance and mishit an attempt over. Substituted late on for a teammate, a fellow player, after being booked. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with England’s top opening before halftime, his effort smartly stopped from the Albanian keeper. With a teammate hanging back, he had to offer an outlet on the right yet his deliveries into the box were hit and miss. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6

The captain The decisive figure netting seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth strikes in an England shirt. The opener a classic close-range tap-in and his next a classy headed goal having drifted away away from the opposition. Aged 32, he continues to improve and England have every chance in the upcoming tournament with him leading the line. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to make an impact on the left flank. Was presented with a presentable chance after being played in from a teammate but Strakosha denied him. His replacement made much more of an impact when substituted. 5
