Three Athletes Named as Finalists for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the this year's Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a unprecedented innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The finalists were announced live on a national radio breakfast show.

The champion will be revealed live on the Sports Personality of the Year show on December 18th.

The ceremony will be aired from 19:00 GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being nominated for this award is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Littler's Profile

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

And he wasn't finished there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and burst into the spotlight with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
