Ukrainian Forces Initiates Mass Production of Novel Defensive Drones

Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. Three initial producers have started production, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Battlefield Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created system known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in actual battle and proved successful “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones daily.

Moscow's military were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with last month’s average daily usage standing at about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Russia’s maritime terminal of the port city halted for a period crude shipments on Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”
